Lubuntu 18.04 Failed To Download Repository Information

  1. Question Failed to Download Repository Information

I want to update to Ubuntu 20.04LTS from 18.04.4LTS -- My starting time thought was to check software updater, just I go along getting a strange bulletin about checking my Internet Connection.

    Screenshot from 2020-04-26 xi-58-05.png

I get regular updates from other bits of software that is installed and on a regular basis, but I don't know why I'm not being notified that xx.04LTS is bachelor.

    Screenshot from 2020-04-26 12-03-20.png

Any thoughts about how I would become about troubleshooting this outcome?

    Thank you,

    David

  2. Re: Failed to Download Repository Information

The primary thing to understand from the mistake message is "failed to download repository information". The mention of cyberspace connection is often misleading.
The usual culprit is a PPA. Please check. Running 'sudo apt update' in terminal will show you exactly where the problem comes from.

  3. Re: Failed to Download Repository Information

    Cheque with a terminal
that said, waiting for the upgrade option to come is moot as upgrades from xviii.04 to 20.04 aren't officially bachelor anyway.
The official upgrade from lts to lts is e'er after the first signal release.
(The first signal release usually comes sometimes around belatedly July/early August)

To upgrade now you need to run the updater in evolution mode
    ie

    Code:

    update-managing director -d practise-release-upgrade -d

  5. Re: Failed to Download Repository Information

    http://ppa.launchpad.internet/sbates/ppa/ubuntu is abandoned since 2015.
    http://ppa.launchpad.net/stedy6/stedy-minidna/ubuntu is abandoned since 2012.

This ^^^ is your problem. You need to remove both repositories.
In that location's also an error in the Google'south repo that tin can be fixed with:

    Code:

                          sudo apt-primal adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 78BD65473CB3BD13

Ah, expert to know.. every bit I wasn't enlightened. Is information technology having a lot of bug right now? If so, then I probably want to stay away.

  7. Re: Failed to Download Repository Data

Cursory look shows that the minidnla ppa and the sbates ppa ar both unsupported (and long dead) on xviii.04.
    Disable those two.
As for google's pubkey issue, seems rather routine, see
    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1205...ry-information

    ninja'd.

If you mean by "stay away", 20.04 itself, so information technology'south hard to say. The forums show a big uptick in users seeking help, but this happens with every launch. I would like to ask why yous wish to update now? The first betoken release in July/August will be more stable, and then if stability is more important than bright-and-shiny, y'all may wish to wait.

  10. Re: Failed to Download Repository Information

Much appreciate everyone's help... I set a lot of this stuff up years ago, upgraded, and just forgot virtually them. This just isn't an area that I work with very often, and so I've forgotten how to handle situations like this
